Rule Book
The horse tokens are designed for ease of use, and quicker group or solo play, and permitting any horse to be placed into any starting gate position.
How Are Horses Rated?
The past performances of horses are studied for both their run style, run speed and stamina. Hours of research have been devoted to each horse so that they are modeled correctly, and run true their general form.
Although all the ratings are subjective, they are based upon each horse's historical results. Horses are rated both for their underlying running ability, and heart. Particular weight has been given to a horse's best performances, especially those in important stakes races such as the Triple Crown races and Breeder's Cup races.
Can I Generate My Own Random Races?
Yes you can. In fact, while the game has a set race program included for basic play, the horse deck has been created so that players can generate random races - both in terms of distance, and the horses contained in the field.
Do you want relive the match up Alydar against Affirmed? Or between Secretariat and Sham? Or create fictional races between past champions? You can, as this is a true sandbox game designed with both solo and group play in mind.
What About Breeding My Own Horses?
Yes you can. The game has a system designed to do just that, and is included in the standard rules.
Through just a few rolls of the dice, you can generate your own foals. Want to breed the greatest historical champions to each other, and create your own fictional horse racing leagues? You can with the easy and intuitive breeding game.
Although registration of foals is not currently supported, in the future, we expect to offer that service to breeders, including an online market place for bred horses. Until that day comes, you will be able to breed horses in the comfort of your own home.
